Fume hoods play an integral part when it comes to laboratories, so allow us to help you pick the best one for you.

Where would science be without fume hoods?

At OnePointe Solutions, we offer many configurations of ventilation solutions, serving most industries and types of businesses. We have partnerships with several brands that you trust for your fume hood needs. Fume hoods play an integral part when it comes to laboratories, so allow us to help you pick the best one for you.

What is a Fume Hood?

Fume hoods provide localized filtration/ventilation and are designed to remove potentially hazardous or harmful fumes, vapors, and droplets away from lab personnel.Research, manufacturing, and medical labs handle many corrosive chemicals, biological/viral agents, materials that may cause respiratory irritation, and substances with highly flammable fumes.

How to Choose a Fume Hood

We understand you may need a fume hood, but don't know where to start. An important piece of equipment that should not taken lightly.Do you need a ductless fume hood or a bio safety cabinet? Depending on your industry do you need a simple fume hood or a more complex version.Whatever you need, we got you covered!Check out our video we put together to walk you through to se which type of fume hood is appropriate for your laboratory facility. For more information about fume hoods, check out our blog!

FUME HOOD CATEGORIES

GENERAL CHEMISTRY HOODS

Chemistry fume hoods provide vital ventilation in laboratory settings, allowing chemistry lab personnel to conduct research and work involving these materials in a safe, controlled environment. Without proper filtration, chemical fumes are easily breathable by lab personnel, chemical spills may lead to burns, and containment of toxins becomes near impossible.

DUCTLESS / FILTERED HOODS

Unlike general chemistry hoods, ductless hoods do not require your facility to have existing ductwork. Rather than releasing filtered air into the atmosphere, ductless hoods use internal carbon or a combination of carbon and HEPA filters to clean the air, then release the filtered air back into the workspace.

FLOOR MOUNTED HOODS

Floor mounted hoods are ideal for protecting personnel from toxic vapors produced by large equipment. Where traditional hoods are designed to accommodate handheld and small-sized equipment and tools, floor mounted hoods provide containment for large or oversized apparatus. Floor mounted hoods come in a variety of types, and can be vented or filtered.

SNORKEL ARMS

Laboratory exhaust snorkels aid in the removal of fumes, sparks, dust, and exhaust in laboratory settings. Far smaller than traditional fume hoods, fume snorkels add a layer of flexibility to the lab, allowing personnel to perform certain functions at their workbenches rather than moving to a fume hood.

EDUCATIONAL & DEMONSTRATION HOODS

Offering the same filtering properties as regular fume hoods, educational demonstration hoods differ only in their outside construction. Featuring additional windows, educational demonstration hoods are built to provide better visibility and enhanced viewing for the purposes of educating students and lab personnel. A simple fume hood for demonstrations can be a great solution for a teaching or training environment.

PVC & STAINLESS STEEL HOODS

In labs handling certain acids, such a stainless steel cleanrooms, specialty fume hoods may be required. PVC lined fume hoods are resistant to etching and corrosion, making them perfect for work involving acids like hydrofluoric acid and perchloric acid. Stainless hoods with washdown systems are also favorable in applications using perchloric acid and provide added protection from radiochemicals.

SMALL FOOTPRINT ENCLOSURES

Limited space is always a consideration when designing the laboratory. Small footprint ventilation solutions may be the answer for certain industries and applications, where exposure to chemicals or hazardous substances is limited.

CUSTOM SAFETY GLASS ENCLOSURES

We proudly offer end-to-end custom solutions for laboratory ventilation, starting from design, to manufacturing to onsite installation.

FUME HOOD COUNTERTOPS

Epoxy Resin

Epoxy resin is the ideal solution for environments that have high possibilities of corrosion or moisture.
GO TO EPOXY RESIN COUNTERTOPS

phenolic resin

Phenolic resin meets the requirements of most laboratories with the added benefit of being chemical-, wear-, and water-resistant.
GO TO PHENOLIC RESIN COUNTERTOPS

stainless steel

As a nonporous surface, nothing can penetrate into this material. Bacteria, mold, and other common germs don’t stand a chance.
