How to Care For Your Laboratory Surfaces

Laboratory surfaces from OnePointe Solutions have specific care needs depending on which ones you choose. To ensure the longest life for our laboratory work surfaces, please follow the care advice, below.

Epoxy Resin

For cleaning, epoxy resin surfaces respond more to buffing than scrubbing, as excessive heat and/or scrubbing could, over time, cause the surface material to break down. Use gentle force and mild detergent or rubbing alcohol to ensure that the surface remains stain-free.

Phenolic Resin

Phenolic resin surfaces are stain and scratch resistant, even with heavy-duty use. This material is also moisture resistant, so water, a mild detergent and gentle cleansing is usually all that is needed to keep the surface clean.

Maple Block

Maple block is absorbent just like any other wood surface. It’s best not to cut directly onto the block to avoid scratches and cuts. To keep wood moist, occasional buffing with beeswax or another formulation designed for wood surfaces will help ward off cracking. For disinfecting, opt for a mile vinegar and water solution.

Laminate

Laminate is highly durable, but spills should be cleaned up as soon as possible to avoid potential staining. Keep ESD laminate clean with a lint-free, non-abrasive cleaning cloth combined with a formulation of mild soap and water. Avoid the use of steel wool and harsh abrasive powder cleansers. If desired, a formulation of ammonia and water can be used for disinfection.

HDPE

HDPE is lightweight, non-porous and stain-resistant. However, if a stain does occur, use diluted bleach along with a gentle scrubber or nylon brush.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is non-porous, and naturally anti-bacterial. It can scratch, but this doesn’t affect the integrity of the surface in any way. Avoid cutting on the stainless steel surface. Avoid using steel scrub pads or other hard abrasive cleaning tools. Instead, opt for a soft cloth, clean water and a mild soap.
