  • Complete the Oklahoma Business Registration Packet for Nonresident Contractors. The packet will include business registration information, federal EIN application information, and how to complete your registration form.
  • Provide a Notice of Contract to the following agencies: Oklahoma Tax Commission, Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, Workers Compensation Commission, and County Assessor’s Office of the County where you will be performing contracting work.
  • Provide a non-resident contractors bond that is three times the estimated tax liability, particularly if your contract is over $100,000.
  • Present a Notice of Completion to the following agencies once services have been performed: Oklahoma Tax Commission, Employment Industrial Court, and County Assessor’s Office where you completed contracting work.

Requirements

Before applying to become a contractor with a specialty trade, or registering as a non-resident contractor, here are some important requirements to note.

Exam

You will have to follow the specific licensing registration and application process for your desired trade. The Oklahoma Construction Industries Board website lists further details for each specialty trade, including which exams may need to be taken by the applicant.
